Digital Cinema is really just getting started. Specifications are generally complete. Most standards are through the SMPTE process. Subjects critical to International exhibitors (e.g., 25fps) are starting to get noticed. 2007 was rich with installs, 2008, not so many. The total is 6,000 cinemas of nearly 125,000 worldwide. None are compliant with a system standard, since there is no one assigned yet to qualify the individual pieces of equipment. DCI promises that this will be solved soon. We are believers in this technology’s potential, especially if combined with fully implemented Quality Control, Education and Reporting protocols— critical resources to help DCinema reach and maintain its potential. |

Standards...Equipment Design...Years...Thousands of installed systems...No Independent Quality or Security Feedback Protocols.
The DCinemaCompliance Group has developed such a protocol. It begins with a customizable Quality Management System (QMS) that incorporates an on-line staff training program. The trained staff is then qualified to use a series of daily, weekly and monthly online inspection forms.
This ‘Best Practices’ approach checks for diparities in the entire digital cinema system, fulfilling management's promise to keep DCinema systems in compliance. In addition to better quality and security, clients benefit from less downtime.
Such a Self-Compliance model is a world-wide trend and a long-term quality control strategy. It benefits equally, the end-user, the Integrator, the Studios and the Cinema Owner.
