Digital Cinema is really just getting started. Specifications are generally complete. Most standards are through the SMPTE process. Subjects critical to International exhibitors (e.g., 25fps) are starting to get noticed.

2007 was rich with installs, 2008, not so many. The total is 6,000 cinemas of nearly 125,000 worldwide. None are compliant with the system standard yet, but this will come soon as the DCI has recently given 4 companies the privilege of being able to qualify the individual pieces of equipment that make up a system. Just in time for a world-wide recession. More news on this at the DCinemaTools blog.

We are believers in this technology’s potential, especially if combined with fully implemented Quality Control, Education and Reporting protocols— critical resources to help DCinema reach and maintain its potential.

Standards...Equipment Design...Years...Thousands of installed systems...No Quality or Security Feedback Protocols.

The DCinemaCompliance Group has developed such a protocol. It begins with a customizable Quality Management System (QMS) incorporating an on-line staff training program. The trained staff is then qualified to use a series of daily, weekly and monthly online inspection forms.

This ‘Best Practices’ approach checks for disparities in the entire digital cinema system, fulfilling management's promise to keep DCinema systems in compliance. In addition to better quality and security, clients benefit from less downtime.

Such a Self-Compliance model is a world-wide trend and a long-term quality control strategy. It benefits equally, the end-user, the Integrator, the Studios and the Cinema Owner.
